Policies
TUITION & PAYMENT
Tuition is automatically billed on the 1st of every month. Payments are processed by pre-authorized credit/debit cards. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, your lessons and rehearsals will be suspended at the School’s discretion until you have contacted us to arrange payment. Payment for your first month is due on the day you start your membership with School of Rock, and your first month’s tuition may be prorated.
SCHEDULE & ENROLLMENT CHANGES
We require at least 24-hours-notice to cancel a lesson in order to guarantee the issuance of a make-up pass. You can cancel and reschedule your lesson(s) online through your Pike13 account. If you are taking an extended break or ending your enrollment, please contact us via email:
or call the school and speak with us directly. Makeup lessons must be redeemed within 60 days of the canceled lesson and will expire after those 60 days are up. Make-up lessons cannot be stored in lieu of a monthly payment, and all make-ups must be scheduled while your account is active.
We require 30-days-notice, via email, for enrollment changes (extended absences/vacations) or cancellations. All requests for changes to your membership plan or cancellation must be emailed to the front of house staff at southhills@schoolofrock.com. Any remaining lessons that are not attended will be forfeited.
School of Rock is closed on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
End of Season Showcases and Prep Week
We do not offer makeup lessons or class prorations for the above holidays and prep-week. Because School of Rock is billed monthly, there are typically about four to five months out of the year when a student may receive five lessons/classes per month at no additional charge. This balances out any missed holidays and we strive to ensure that every student receives an average of four lessons per month over the course of a show season.
In the event of a closure due to inclement weather, a make-up lesson will be offered. However, the date and time of weather-related make-ups will be assigned and may or may not be with the student's regular instructor.
INSTRUCTOR SUBSTITUTION
Our staff are working musicians who tour & perform locally (and occasionally get sick). When an instructor is out, we will do our best to provide a substitute instructor at your normal weekly lesson time. We occasionally have to make adjustments to the time or reschedule a lesson entirely. While we will do our best to keep you updated with instructor changes, we may not have the opportunity to give notice that a substitute instructor will be teaching your lesson until you arrive at the school that day. While all students have a primary instructor, it is important to remember that you are a School of Rock student, not a student of any one particular instructor. All of our teachers are background-checked and safety and curriculum-trained to the same School of Rock standards.
WAIVERS
We require waivers to be filled out for every student before their first lesson or rehearsal.. Please log into your School of Rock dashboard in Pike13 and follow the online prompts to complete these waivers for yourself and/or your child(ren). This step is required in order to attend classes or lessons at School Of Rock. After completing your waivers, please take a few minutes to fill out your emergency contact information, address, and any other important information.
13+ WAIVER: To ensure the safety of our students, School of Rock requires that every student, of any age, remain on School of Rock premises unless accompanied by a parent or guardian including at pick up time. A parent or guardian may grant School of Rock permission to allow their child who is 13 years of age or older to leave School of Rock premises unaccompanied by the parent, guardian or adult by signing an 13+ waiver. Students 13+ years of age or older will not be allowed to leave the premises unless a parent or guardian has provided School of Rock a signed copy of this waiver. Students will not be allowed to leave to go to nearby food establishments, coffee shops, or gas stations. The 13+ waiver only permits students to leave unaccompanied for the day.
CODE OF CONDUCT
At School of Rock, we take our code of conduct very seriously. This is located within the waivers that our students and parents/guardians must sign before beginning classes at School of Rock. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our students as they learn about music and build friendships with their peers. In honoring that commitment to our students and families, we will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against anyone who violates our code of conduct up to and including expulsion depending on the seriousness of the violation.
NON-FRAT POLICY
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. It is our goal that by involving our parents in actively engaging with our Staff Non-Fraternization policy we can work together to continue to create a safe environment for everyone. Please take a moment to review the policy below. It is designed to ensure your student’s safety. As a parent you should know and comply with the expectation that School of Rock employees are prohibited from engaging in any contact, communication or interaction with students outside of the business of school related activities.
SICK POLICY
If you are sick or showing any symptoms please stay home. We can offer an online lesson in many situations through the SoR online app for private lessons. Please keep this in mind to keep our staff, other students, and families safe.
EAR PROTECTION
Preventing long-term hearing-loss is extremely important to us, and it’s no mystery that loud music is a big contributing factor. As such, we require students to wear earplugs or over-ear cans during rehearsals, shows, and in any room that is at a decibel level of 85 or above. Students should bring their own. We will provide the student a pair of reusable earplugs the first time hearing protection is forgotten, and all additional times students don't have ear protection, the account manager will be charged $5.00 per set given.
We strongly suggest investing in a quality pair of earplugs over disposable foam earplugs, and feel free to consult our admin team for more information.
PREP WEEK
School of Rock will close for one week at the end of each Performance Program season, similar to a public school teacher in-service week. We use Prep Week to better serve our SoR community. Our team will be training & providing professional development for staff, preparing logistics for next season, repairing gear, improving facility needs, deep-cleaning, and providing students with a much needed break from the previous season’s hard work before diving into the next. It's an opportunity for us to hit the reset button and hit the ground running next season! Please refer to our calendar for Prep Week dates.
